I just heard the other day of another poison – maybe you already knew this – apparently aluminium foil leaves trace of aluminium on the food it’s wrapped around. There are so many poisons now, it’s difficult to know what’s safe to eat and what will become unsafe tomorrow. Of course, it’s absolutely crazy to knowingly eat stuff, or put it on your skin, which is full of poisons, and sadly that’s what most of us have been doing all our lives. But I personally can’t handle that kind of life, which is afraid of everything. Afraid to eat most food because of the poisons it contains. Afraid to eat fruit off the tree, in case it’s been sprayed. Afraid to enjoy a piece of cake because it has sugar in it. I was looking for some organic shampoo recently in Croatia, and I made the mistake of expecting to find it in the supermarket. As I tried to read the labels to see if there were any products at all that weren’t full of parabens and other nasty substances, I felt the effect of that fear. How it makes you contracted and narrow-minded, always counting the cost and unable to enjoy anything. So what to do now? There’s one simple thing to remember to help reduce the fear in a world that is certainly full of scary statistics. Your body is designed to clean out poisons. It’s incredibly efficient at it. It does it all the time. But…and it’s a big but…we need to cooperate with that process, not prevent it. And sadly, through ignorance more than anything...

Around 2001 I discovered from the World Health Organisation that depression was set to become the leading cause of death and disability by 2020. Now we’re not that far away and the prediction is becoming true. Major depression (or clinical depression) is already the biggest cause of disability for 15 to 44 years in USA. 9.6% of the population in USA experience bipolar disorder, major depression or minor chronic depression in one year. 30m Europeans suffer from depression, costing workplaces US$131.5bn per year One in every 10 people in USA is on some form of antidepressant (depressant drugs are prescribed to middle aged Americans more than any other drug) From 1995 to 2009 European use of antidepressants rose by 20% on average every year. If you have any kind of imbalance in your digestive system you will probably have spent some time adjusting your diet and wondering what’s the best food to eat.  I wrote about this some months ago and explained why I believe it is so important to focus more on strengthening your digestive system than on what food you eat. This does not mean it doesn’t matter what you eat at all. But in my experience over many years of working with people, I have always found that the more people relax and balance themselves emotionally and energetically the better food choices they make. And it’s completely natural.  I cannot count the number of times someone has reported to me in a surprised voice that they didn’t want coffee any more, or that they couldn’t drink any alcohol, or that they simply don’t feel any need to eat sweet things any longer. Why Is Relaxation Soooo Powerful?

It seems such a little thing – to relax. We think we are doing it when we read a book or watch TV. And that is relaxation, up to a point. But there is so much more. After almost 25 years of learning about life and how to develop myself I still find simple relaxation the most powerful approach of all. So let me explain what I mean. Relaxing is simply allowing. It is doing nothing. Letting go of control. It’s also letting go of pain, letting go of emotional suffering, letting go of worry. This is not a mental process of letting go. It is simply relaxing wherever you are tense. It is not a technique or a tool, because techniques and tools require you to do something. Trying to relax is not relaxing, it’s trying. This is challenging, because we are used to doing something to solve a problem. Not doing something is impossible for the mind to contemplate. However it is not doing that is much more powerful than doing. I am not saying we should all sit around doing nothing, waiting for the universe to drop love or money into our laps. I am saying that when we are truly relaxed (ie doing nothing), we experience that the universe is dropping love and money into our laps! It is important because it is causing huge suffering in ‘normal’ families everywhere, and no one knows what to do about it. Vast amounts of money are being spent medicating people and treating people with a huge range of therapies, without doing the one thing that really needs to come first. Let’s first describe some of the signs that this is an issue and then I will explain what is really going on and how to solve it. Any one of these signs is enough – you do not need to experience all of them! Miracles are still possible

Miracles have been getting a bad press recently. So many promises have been made over the years by so many teachers, but many people have not experienced the results they expected. And yet, I want to hold out for miracles. Another one happened just yesterday. The most common miracles for me take place in relationships. I usually get to hear about people’s relationships when there is a lot of anger, disappointment and blame (or much worse). Of course it is always the other person who is apparently behaving really badly. I know from personal experience that even when you are very conscious and have done a lot of spiritual work, the minute your partner starts to do something that triggers you it is amazing how fast you can drop into blame and making him/her wrong (and yourself right). And for all women out there, I am willing to bet that when you can avoid getting into blame it is because you are trying to fix him. So you come across as if you have all the answers and you are in control, while he is the poor struggling guy, or the nasty guy, or the lost unconscious guy, or the arrogant guy…….or a whole lot more. And it drives him crazy or he just shuts down and stops responding. And then of course you think he needs fixing all the more. There is no real communication in this scenario. Most conversations seem to go along familiar tramlines that you have been along before. Neither of you really listens or understands the other person. Both tend to feel self righteous....

I want to share a small piece of information about pain that is the key to healing. If you suffer from pain you may be sick of empty promises about healing, but this is a way to heal pain that people rarely seem to understand, even when they have worked with many very experienced healers. A bad mood can easily get a grip on you, but it is a good idea to shift your mood as soon as you can. Silence your mind for 15 seconds This works really well when your mind is going crazy with negative scenarios. Just tell it firmly to shut up. And keep it shut up. Don’t be too ambitious. 15 seconds is long enough to make a real difference. And once you have done 15 seconds you can do it again…and again…and again. If you find it hard, that is all the more reason to do it. If you find it impossible it is essential to master it. Just 15 seconds. Keep trying until you make it. The effect can be remarkable. 2. Smile for 30 minutes This one is really easy to get started and incredibly hard to go all the way – but even 5 minutes would make a huge difference. What kind of food should I eat?

This is a question I am often asked, especially by new clients. They want me to advise them what kind of food they should eat to aid their healing. This is especially important to people who have allergies, food sensitivities, digestive disorders and the like. Here is a summary of what I have found to be really practical useful advice on diet. It is not medically approved. Some of it flies in the face of advice you can find online and elsewhere. I say it here because I have found it works better this way. Focus on building a healthy digestive system This is by far the most important step and the most overlooked. If your digestive system is not functioning well it really doesn’t matter so much what you eat. Nothing will be good for you. As your digestive system balances out you will find yourself less and less sensitive to what you eat. Allergies disappear. Bloating and other uncomfortable symptoms are relieved and you receive more and more nourishment from your food. So what this means is don’t start by looking at diet. Start by fixing your digestion. Then you will be in a good position to choose a good diet. Stop worrying and be happy The vast majority of digestive and food problems are closely linked with worry, anxiety and nervousness. Traditional Chinese Medicine links worry and excess thinking with imbalance in the energy of the stomach and spleen, which directly cause digestion problems. “Don’t worry, be happy” is excellent advice. Can you remember when you were a child? Sometimes you felt so happy for no reason whatsoever. Maybe you were just lying in the grass or on the beach or playing or doing nothing in particular. If you have spent much time in the world of personal development you may sometimes wonder what happened to that simple, natural happiness. As adults it seems the search for happiness is much more complicated. First we tend to think it lies in being rich or having the right job or being able to discover and live our passion. Then we gradually discover that life doesn’t always work that way. We see people who are rich and not happy. We get the right job and it doesn’t make us a lot happier than we were. We can even discover our passion and find we sabotage ourselves with self-doubt. Then we learn how to be positive; how to change our thinking; how to clear negativity; how to identify and get rid of self-limiting beliefs; and how to do a whole lot more. We feel happier sometimes but it often seems elusive. We can’t rely on it. Sometimes it’s there but it can disappear so easily, leaving us with another lot of negativity to clear out or work on. What if you couldn’t brush your teeth today?

Most of us would feel pretty uncomfortable if we couldn’t brush our teeth today. I know I would be constantly running my tongue around my teeth, eating raw carrots and trying to clean them as best I could without a toothbrush. So suppose you couldn’t brush your teeth for a week? Or a month? Or a year? It seems almost unthinkable in the 21st Century. I imagine that the smell and the dirt would be one of the most challenging parts of travelling backwards in time. So let’s jump forward a few decades. With the discoveries of the last 20 years (and more) about how our energy determines our health, relationships, finances and all aspects of our material life I predict that we are going to become much more sensitive about how clean our energy is. Having a cluttered energy field is like having a cluttered house, but worse. You can’t think straight. You can’t breathe easily. You can’t relax properly. There’s always stuff in the way, and that stuff shows up as emotions and negativity. We are all connected energetically, and our energy sends ripples or waves of energy out from us, affecting everyone we are connected with. If we truly understand this simple fact we would want to do anything we could to prevent ourselves from sending out negative waves. And that means avoiding negative thoughts and negative emotions. What is the essence of healing?

Some of us are called to be healers but healing is not for everyone. Just as some of us are called to be artists or business people or athletes or teachers. These are major life paths that attract us. When we slot into the ‘right’ path we feel we are on track. When we are working in a field that has no connection with our true path we may feel disconnected or off track. We tend to think of this as a personal decision. It’s all about what career we choose and what direction we take in our life. But we are all connected. We are effectively one humanity, expressing itself through the billions of human beings – as if we are all the cells of the human race. So imagine if our life path is not just about ourselves, but it is our contribution to the whole of humanity. This totally changes our perspective. For example the healers would not only be here to heal a few individuals, but in healing anyone they would be healing the whole human race. The business people would not be making money for themselves alone, but creating wealth for all of us. The athletes would not be going for gold for their own personal glory, but stimulating the whole species to raise its spirit and uplift its achievement. You can see this clearly in the business world. Every person who creates a business creates wealth for all his/her employees and suppliers, as well as for the government, through taxation. Did you know that there is a really simple way to predict your state of health in the future? This is not a scary thing. It’s a way to get clear so you can take preventative action. It is much better than waiting for something to happen, especially since there is so much you can do nowadays that really works. It has become widely medically acknowledged that most of the serious illnesses we face in the West are caused by our lifestyle, and especially by the way we think and feel. I want to write about praying and how to ask for what you want from a divine source, because I have watched so many people fail in their requests. Now this is a topic on which there is always more to learn, so this is only my observation and experience so far. But I have experienced so much failure and success in my own life and seen both in so many other people that I can say there is a science of prayer which is well worth exploring. 1. If you’re really desperate just pray for help. The biggest mistake most people make is to pray from a position of desperation. I personally find that the best prayer when I am really desperate is totally simple: “Please God (or whoever you want to address) help me.” That is all I ask for until I feel better. When you feel really desperate there is very little point in asking for anything specific (money, healing, solutions to problems). You have lost any sense of solutions being possible and all you need at this stage is to establish some connection with the Divine. Get the line open so a little light can shine into your situation. If you keep it simple at this stage it works very fast and you can feel better within seconds or minutes. Once you feel better you can start to get more specific. 2. Ask directly and keep yourself out of the way. A very common way of praying is to ask for help to do something or get something. “Please help me make more money.” “Please...
